Brookside Estates, founded in October 1997, is owned and operated by Emeritus Senior Living, the second largest assisted living provider in North America with 287 communities located throughout thirty-six states. At Brookside Estates, aging adults can maintain the same independent lifestyle they have always enjoyed, plus have the opportunity to connect with their peers, participate in activities, and even form new friendships that can last a lifetime. We met recently with Executive Director Greg Raubenolt and Resident Care Director Lisa DuPerow, RN, and listened as they described the services and accommodations available at Brookside Estates;
Brookside Estates offers a full continuum of care specifically designed to enable older adults to age in place. We offer independent and assisted living care, rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, respite care, and a dedicated unit for those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. In addition to being a licensed assisted living community, we have licensed nurses and care givers on-site twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Our Memory Care Neighborhood is a nineteen apartment Alzheimer's unit that provides a safe, secure environment for residents with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. We view Alzheimer's as a journey, not only for the resident, but for their family, as well. Through our "Join Their Journey" program, we facilitate that journey for the resident and their family throughout the various stages of Alzheimer's. We offer respite stays lasting from several days to several months for those whose caretakers are away on business or vacation, or while they are recuperating or taking part in our on-site rehabilitation services. Residents receive the care and attention they need, while family members know that their loved ones are receiving proper care while they are away.
Emeritus means "retired with honor", and that embodies the entire environment we provide. We strive to ensure the dignity and independence of our residents, and ensure each residents has their own individual apartment, complete with kitchenette, bathroom, and numerous areas for visiting with their friends. Everything from the furnishings to the way we interact with our residents, our peaceful setting, caring staff, and activities combine to create a home-like atmosphere. After being here for a short time, most new residents are calling Brookside Estates their home and many tell us they wish they had come here sooner.
We are very proud of our "Safely Somewhere" program. The theory behind this program is that any time we receive a call about our services, we treat that call as a 911 call. We know that there has been some type of event that precipitated the call, whether an elderly parent has fallen or someone has noticed that they are not taking their medications as prescribed. We feel an obligation to see they receive the assistance they need. Sometimes the solution can be found within our own community, while other times we will refer the caller to more appropriate services, such as a skilled nursing facility, another assisted lived provider, a home health service, or one of the other organizations we partner with in the senior healthcare field.
Brookside Estates will be delighted to show you how their home can become your home. Call or stop by Brookside Estates today, and don't forget to tell them The Middleburg Heights, Ohio Community Advocate
